Contacts
Contacts is the list of people and businesses your organization works with: vendors, contractors, investors, customers. Each one has a single profile holding their details, their roles, the accounts you pay them through, and whether they’ve been onboarded.
It’s in the sidebar as Contacts.
Why keep contacts here
Section titled “Why keep contacts here”- One record per counterparty. Their wallets and bank accounts hang off the contact, so a payment always points back to a known person or business.
- Details from the source. Instead of copying bank details out of an email, you send the contact a secure link and they enter their own details, tax form and payout account. That cuts out typos and
please pay this new account instead
fraud. - A clear view of who’s cleared. The Onboarding column shows, for every contact, whether they’ve been verified.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”- You add a contact as a business or an individual, and give them one or more roles, such as Vendor or Contractor.
- You choose what to ask them for. Their roles and a diligence level decide which checks they complete.
- You send them a secure link. They confirm their email and work through the steps. They don’t need a Mezzanine account.
- Their status moves to Complete. The payout account they gave appears on their profile and under 3rd Party Accounts.
To add someone and type their details yourself, see Add a vendor or contact. To have them fill in their own details, see Ask a contact to enter their own details and payment account.
What onboarding asks for
Section titled “What onboarding asks for”The Diligence level sets the base:
| Level | The contact completes |
|---|---|
| Light | Their details |
| Standard | Their details and an ID check |
| Enhanced | Their details, an ID check, and beneficial owners (businesses only) |
Roles add to that:
| Role | Adds |
|---|---|
| Vendor, Contractor, Employee, Merchant | A tax form and a payout account |
| Investor | Investor accreditation |
| Customer, Other | Nothing |
Only the first group adds a payout account. If you want a contact to give you their payment details, give them one of those roles. Every level also includes a sanctions check that runs automatically; the contact never sees it. Before you send, the request shows exactly what the contact will complete.
Using the page
Section titled “Using the page”The table lists every contact with their Roles and Onboarding status. Search by name, email or wallet address, and filter by Type, Role(s) or Status.
Your teammates are listed too, marked Team, so you can find and pay them like anyone else. Their onboarding reads Not required, and you manage them in Our Team.
Click a contact to open their profile on the right. It has two tabs.
Overview
Section titled “Overview”Their details, their roles (shown as Relationship), and their Accounts, each with its status. For a business you also see its people, with the primary contact starred. For an individual you see any Related businesses. Tax IDs are masked; use the reveal icon next to one (Reveal Tax ID) to see it.
Click Edit contact at the bottom to change details or roles, add people or accounts, or delete the contact.
Onboarding
Section titled “Onboarding”Where the contact stands, and what to do next:
| You see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Start | You haven’t asked this contact to onboard | Click Start, choose what to ask for, and send the link |
| Incomplete | The link was sent; the contact hasn’t finished | Wait, or click Resend link. Preview portal shows you what they see |
| Complete | The contact finished every step | Nothing. Click Re-request onboarding to collect fresh details |
| Expired | Their completed onboarding has lapsed | Click Renew onboarding |
| Failed | A check didn’t pass, such as the ID check | Review the checks listed, then Re-request onboarding if appropriate |
Once they’ve started, the tab lists each check under Direct checks and where it stands. For a business, Related checks shows each of its people’s ID checks. Uploaded documents, such as a tax form, open from here.
The ⋮ menu on each row offers the same actions without opening the profile.
A re-request or renewal doesn’t wipe the existing record. It stays valid until the renewal completes.
Cancel renewal discards the request and leaves the current record as it was.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- A business’s invite goes to its primary contact. If the business has no primary contact, or that person has no email, you can’t send the invite until you fix it with Edit contact.
- Both ways of sending email the contact. Email portal sends the invite. Copy link sends the same email and also copies the link for you to share.
- Links expire after 7 days. Resend link sends a fresh one and the old link stops working, so tell the contact to use the newest email.
- Five wrong sign-ins lock the link. The contact must sign in with the email the invite was sent to. After 5 attempts with a different address, the link locks. Resend link gives them a new one.
- The contact can stop and come back. The same link picks up where they left off, until it expires.
- There’s a limit of 100 invites per organization per day.
- An email address can belong to only one contact. A teammate’s email can’t be used for a contact.
- Add a company’s people from the company. Someone who represents a business should be added to that business, so they stay linked to it. Open the business, click Edit contact, then + Add contact.
