Internal Transfers
Internal Transfers is for moving money between accounts your organization owns: topping up an operating account from treasury, or moving funds from one entity’s wallet to another’s. It goes through the same draft and approval steps as a payment to someone outside.
You’ll find it in the sidebar under Manage Assets → Internal Transfers. The page is described as Transfer funds between your own accounts
.
Why use it
Section titled “Why use it”- Your own money still needs controls. A transfer between entities can matter as much as a vendor payment, for accounting and for who’s allowed to move funds. Here it’s approved under a policy like any other payment.
- Only your accounts are offered as the destination. You can’t send an
internal
transfer to someone else’s wallet by mistake. - You see both balances. The account list shows what each of your accounts holds, and you’re warned if the source can’t cover the amount.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”- You choose the amount, asset and the two accounts.
- You save it as a draft. It appears on the DRAFTS tab of the payments list. Nothing has moved.
- Someone publishes it, which submits it for approval.
- It’s approved, signed and sent. See Approve, sign and send a payment.
For the click-by-click version, see Move money between your accounts.
When to use it
Section titled “When to use it”- Funding an operating account from a treasury wallet or Safe.
- Moving funds between legal entities your organization runs.
- Consolidating balances before a large payment.
- A regular top-up. Switch the form to Recurring Payment. See Recurring Payments.
To pay anyone outside your organization, use Bill Pay.
Using the page
Section titled “Using the page”The form is the same one Bill Pay uses, set up for a transfer. Fields marked with * are required to save.
- One Time Payment / Recurring Payment: leave on One Time Payment for a single transfer.
- Due Date: optional.
- Payment Method *, Amount *, Asset *: how and what you’re moving. The assets offered depend on the method.
- Category * and Policy *: how the transfer is classified, and which approval policy it goes through.
- Description *: what the transfer is for.
- Agreement and Documents: optional.
- Pay from: the account the money leaves.
- Pay to: the account it lands in. Only your organization’s own accounts are listed (
Choose one of your accounts
).
The Upload an Invoice panel at the top isn’t needed for a transfer. Skip it.
Click Add Pending Payment to save the transfer as a draft.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Saving doesn’t move anything. The transfer waits on the DRAFTS tab until someone publishes it.
- You can save without both accounts, but you can’t publish. Publish stays greyed out with
Cannot publish: missing …
until both are chosen. - Warnings don’t block you.
Insufficient balance: …
means the source account holds less than the amount. A warning that an accountcannot be executed on-chain
oras a bank transfer
means the account doesn’t match the method. - Categories and policies come from your organization’s payment settings. If a list says
No categories available
orNo policies available
, ask an admin to add them.
