Ask a contact to enter their own details and payment account
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- You have the Add and edit contacts permission. (Who can use it)
- You have the contact’s email. For a business, it’s the email of your main person there; the invite goes to them.
- You know their role. Only Vendor, Contractor, Employee and Merchant ask for a payout account. If you pick only Investor, Customer or Other, the contact won’t be asked where to be paid. (What onboarding asks for)
Part A: Send the invite (you)
Section titled “Part A: Send the invite (you)”- In the sidebar, click Contacts.

What kind of contact is this?
, click Business or Individual. - Under Role(s), pick their role, e.g. Vendor.
- Leave Share onboarding portal selected and click Continue.You see

. - Enter their details.
- Business: Business name, Primary contact first name, Last name and Primary contact email.
- Individual: First name, Last name and Email.
- Click Continue.You see

, with Diligence level, Role(s), and a list headed “What name will complete”. - Choose a Diligence level. Light confirms details, Standard adds an ID check, Enhanced adds beneficial owners for a business. Check the list shows what you want, including Payout Account.
- Click Email secure portal.
Or click Copy link to secure portal to also get the link on your clipboard. The contact is emailed either way.The window shows Onboarding requested and “A secure portal invite is on its way to email.”
- Click Done.The contact appears in the list, with Onboarding showing Incomplete.
Already a contact? Click Start in their Onboarding column. Their profile opens on the Onboarding tab. Choose the Diligence level and Role(s), then click Email portal or Copy link.
Want the defaults? On the contact’s row, open the ⋮ menu and click Email secure portal or Copy portal link. This sends the Standard level with the contact’s current roles.
Part B: What the contact does
Section titled “Part B: What the contact does”You can forward this section to the contact as-is.
- Open the link in the invite email.The page reads “Your name, let’s confirm a few things.” and lists the steps.
- Click Get started.
- Verify your email: click Send code. Enter the 6-digit code from the email and click Continue. The code goes to the address the invite was sent to. You don’t need an account or password.
- Work through each step and click Continue at the end of each. You’ll see only the steps that apply to you:
- Your details or Business details: confirm your name and address. A business also gives its entity type and EIN / Tax ID.
- Contact details (businesses): the people to verify at your business. Mark one as primary.
- Beneficial owners (businesses): anyone who owns 25% or more.
- Verify identity: upload a government ID and take a quick selfie.
- Tax form: download the blank template if you need it, then upload the signed form.
- Investor accreditation: say how you qualify, then upload a supporting document.
- Provide account details: choose Onchain account and enter your wallet address, or Bank account and either Enter details or Upload instructions.
- Test your wallet (wallets only, optional): click Send test deposit. A small USDC deposit, between $0.10 and $0.99, arrives in your wallet. Enter the exact amount and click Confirm amount. Or click Skip for now.
- Review: check every step reads Complete, then click Done.You see

If you need to stop partway, open the same link later. You’ll pick up where you left off, as long as the link hasn’t expired.
Part C: Check the result (you)
Section titled “Part C: Check the result (you)”- In the sidebar, click Contacts.The contact’s Onboarding column now reads Complete.
- Click the contact, then the Onboarding tab.You see the Verified date, a Payout row naming the account they gave, and each check under Direct checks.
- Click the Overview tab.Their payout account is listed under Accounts. It also appears in 3rd Party Accounts.
- If the payout account is a wallet that reads Untested, test it before the first payment. See Verify someone’s wallet with a test transaction.
Did they upload bank instructions instead? The Payout row reads
Bank · Instructions on file, and no account is created. Open the Payout instructions document under Direct checks and add the account yourself. See Add a vendor or contact.
If something goes wrong
