Connect a bank account

Goal

Link your organization’s bank account so its balance shows in All Accounts and counts toward your totals.

How it works

You choose which of your entities owns the account. Mezzanine then opens Plaid, where you pick your bank and sign in to approve the connection. Your bank login goes to Plaid, not to Mezzanine.

Before you start

• You have the Manage entities permission. (Who can use it)
• The entity that owns the bank account exists in Mezzanine. If not, add it first under Legal & Compliance → Entities.
• You can sign in to the bank’s online banking, and approve the connection if your bank asks.

Steps

1. In the sidebar, click All Accounts.
   You see the list of your accounts.
2. Click Actions at the top right, then Add Account.
   A window opens titled Add account: Choose the kind of account to add.
3. Under Banks, click your bank: Mercury, Brex, Ramp, Chase or Meow. For any other bank, click 12,000+ more banks.
   The window changes to Connect bank account: Choose who owns the account, then connect it through Plaid.
4. Under Legal Entity, choose the entity that owns the account. If your organization has one entity, it’s already filled in.
5. Click Connect.
   You see Initializing Plaid…, then the Plaid window opens.
6. In Plaid, pick your bank, sign in, and approve the connection.
   Back in Mezzanine, you see Connecting account…, then Bank connected: You can now view its balances and transactions.
7. Click Done.
   The bank account appears as a row in All Accounts, with Bank under Type.

Panel closed? When no account is open in the panel on the right, it lists ways to add one. Click Bank account to go straight to step 4.

Sent to your bank’s website? Some banks have you sign in on their own site. When you come back, you see Finishing Bank Connection: Complete the process in the Plaid window. This page will return you automatically. Finish in Plaid, and you’re returned to All Accounts. Do this in the same browser tab you started in.

If something goes wrong
