Task

Verify a wallet manually

Goal
Mark a wallet as verified when you already know it belongs to its owner, without sending it a test transaction.
How it works
You attest that the address is the right one, with a screenshot or document, a short note, or both. Mezzanine sends no deposit and the owner gets no link. The address is screened against OFAC sanctions lists first; if it passes, the wallet is marked Verified manually, with your name and the date. A manual verification never expires.
Time
about 2 minutes.
  • You have the Start wallet verification permission. (Who can use it)
  • To attach a file, you also need permission to edit the wallet’s account: Add and edit contacts for a contact’s wallet, Manage entities for one of your entities’ wallets, or Manage team for a teammate’s. Without it, a note on its own is enough.
  • The wallet is already in Mezzanine. If it isn’t, see Adding the wallet now? below.
  • You have your evidence to hand: a screenshot or document showing the owner controls the wallet (a block explorer view, a portal confirmation or a signed message), a note on how you know, or both.
  • Optionally, the hash of an earlier transaction this wallet sent or received.
  1. In the sidebar, click Legal & Compliance → Wallet Verification.
    You see the Wallets tab.
  2. Find the wallet. Open the ⋮ menu at the end of its row and click Verify manually. Or click Verify wallet (or Reverify) in the same menu, then click Verify manually in the Verify wallet window.
A window opens titled Verify manually, reading “Attest that address is the correct wallet”.
  3. Under Evidence of control, click Upload a screenshot or document and choose one or more files, or drag them onto it.
Each file is listed with its size. Click the bin icon beside a file to remove it.
If you see Attaching a file needs permission to edit this account. A note on its own is enough. instead, go on to step 4.
  4. In Note, say how you know the wallet is theirs, for example Confirmed on a call with their finance lead on Jul 5. You need a file, a note, or both.
The counter under the note shows how many of its 2,000 characters you’ve used.
  5. Under What this wallet is for, check Networks and Assets. They start with what the wallet already lists. Pick the ones the owner can receive, or All Networks / All assets to accept everything. For a Safe or an onchain exchange account, Networks is fixed to the account’s own network: “This account lives on network, so it’s verified for that network only.”
  6. Optionally, under Prior transaction, paste a Transaction hash and choose the Network it was sent on. Mezzanine checks it on-chain: it must exist, not have reverted, and involve this wallet. A Safe or an onchain exchange account only counts transactions on its own network, so its network is already chosen.
  7. Click Verify.
The window reads Verifying wallet while the address is screened, then closes, and you see Wallet verified manually.
  8. Find the wallet’s row again.
It now reads Verified manually · today’s date. Hover over it to see who verified it and when, e.g. Verified manually by Dana Reyes on Jul 5, 2026. The wallet’s panel on the right lists what you chose in step 5 under Accepts.

You’re done. The wallet can be paid on the networks and assets you chose.

Adding the wallet now? Click Actions at the top right, then Add Wallet. Fill in Wallet owner and Wallet address, and click Continue. On Send a test transaction?, click Verify manually instead. The wallet is saved, and the Verify manually window opens: carry on from step 3. From 3rd Party Accounts, the Send a test transfer? step offers the same.

In the middle of a payment? Wherever a payment warns that its destination wallet isn’t verified for it (on its own page, in Requires Action, or in the window where you approve, authorize, propose, sign or execute it), click Verify manually in the warning. The Verify manually window opens on top, with the payment’s network and asset already selected: do steps 3–7. The warning clears once the wallet is verified for the payment’s network and asset.

A test is waiting on the owner? Verifying manually replaces it, and the link you sent them stops working.
