On/Off Ramp
On/Off Ramp moves money between your organization’s bank accounts and its onchain accounts (Safes and wallets), converting between US dollars and USDC on the way. Your Universal Account does the conversion in the middle, so you don’t need an exchange account.
You’ll find it in the sidebar under Move Money → On/Off Ramp. The page is described as Between your bank accounts and your onchain accounts. The Universal Account converts on the way
.
Why use it
Section titled “Why use it”- Fund a wallet from the bank, or cash out to the bank, without moving money through an exchange yourself.
- It’s your own money, under your own controls. A ramp is approved under your approval policy for moves between your own accounts, like an internal transfer.
- You see what arrives before you submit. The review shows the conversion fee and the estimated amount that lands.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”- You choose a direction. On-ramp is
bank to onchain
; Off-ramp isonchain to bank
. - You choose the two accounts and the amount in USDC.
- You review it, including the fee and the estimated arrival, and submit it for approval.
- It’s approved and executed. On an on-ramp, your bank pays dollars in by ACH or wire, and USDC is delivered to the wallet or Safe. On an off-ramp, USDC is sent from the wallet or Safe and dollars are wired to the bank.
When to use it
Section titled “When to use it”- Topping up an onchain treasury from a bank account.
- Paying expenses in dollars from stablecoins you hold onchain.
To move the same asset between two of your accounts, use Internal Transfers. To pay someone outside your organization, use Bill Pay.

, how it’s converted, and how long it takes.

Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- It needs a Universal Account. The paying entity must have one. If no entity has finished onboarding, the page reads
Not open yet
:Moving between your bank accounts and your onchain accounts needs Advanced Onboarding, and the review takes at least a day.
Click Start Advanced Onboarding to begin. - Both ends belong to the same entity on an on-ramp. The wallet or Safe must be one of that entity’s accounts, on a network the Universal Account delivers to.
- USDC only. The onchain side is always USDC; the bank side is always US dollars.
- It takes about a business day. On-ramp:
The wire takes a business day; the USDC lands when it clears.
Off-ramp:USDC settles into the Universal Account first; the wire out takes a business day.
- There’s a minimum and a fee. On an off-ramp, the review shows the Minimum deposit; below it, you see
Below the auto-conversion minimum of …
. If the fee is more than the amount, you seeThe auto-conversion fee is more than the amount, so nothing would arrive.
- Off-ramp checks the balance; on-ramp doesn’t. On an off-ramp you can’t send more USDC than the account holds (
That is more than … holds.
). Mezzanine can’t see your bank balance, so an on-ramp isn’t checked. - Approvers see it as a treasury move. Its category is
Treasury : On-ramp
orTreasury : Off-ramp
. - You need a bank account and an onchain account. With fewer than two accounts, the page reads
Add an account
orAdd another account
and offers ways to add one.
