Entities

Entities is your record of the legal entities your organization operates through: the foundation, the operating company, the subsidiaries. Each one holds its registration details, the people behind it, its accounts and its documents. It’s also where you apply for an entity’s operating bank account.

You’ll find it in the sidebar under Legal & Compliance → Entities.

  • The facts people ask for, in one place. Legal name, jurisdiction, tax ID, formation date, registered address, officers and owners. When a bank, an auditor or a counterparty asks, you look here rather than through old emails and shared drives.
  • Accounts tied to the right entity. Each entity lists the accounts that belong to it, so it’s clear which company holds what.
  • The way to an operating account. Every entity has an operating account. It opens once the entity’s bank application, called Advanced Onboarding, is approved by 1Money. That gives the entity:
    • A Universal Account that takes dollars and stablecoins
    • Paying a bank account straight from a wallet
    • Receiving stablecoins straight into a bank account
  1. You add the entity. Only the legal name is required. Jurisdiction, tax ID, registered address, people and documents can come now or later.
  2. You start Advanced Onboarding when the entity needs its operating account. You can start it while adding the entity, or from the entity at any time.
  3. You fill in five sections: contributors and 1Money’s terms, company information, owners and parent companies, supporting documents, then review.
  4. You submit it to 1Money. The app says most decisions come back in 1 to 3 business days. If 1Money needs more, the entity shows Action needed and tells you what’s missing.
  5. Once approved, the operating account opens and appears on the entity’s Accounts tab.

For the full walkthrough, see Add a legal entity and apply for its bank account.

  • When you form a new entity, or start operating through an existing one in Mezzanine.
  • When an entity needs an operating bank account.
  • When something official changes, such as a registered address, a director or a tax ID.
  • When someone asks for proof: formation documents, who owns the entity, who can act for it.

The table lists your entities by LEGAL NAME, JURISDICTION and STATUS. Search by legal name, DBA or tax ID, or filter the JURISDICTION column. Click a row to open the entity’s details on the right; click it again to close them.

To add an entity, click Actions at the top right, then Add Entity.

STATUS shows where the entity’s bank application stands.

Opening an entity takes you to the tab with work waiting. That’s Advanced Onboarding if there’s an application to start, resume or answer, and Overview otherwise.

  • Overview. Registration details, corporate structure, business profile, account use and risk profile, and documents. Much of this is filled in by the bank application. KYB reads Verified or Not verified. Use Edit entity at the bottom to change the details, and Add document or link to attach formation and governance documents. Documents uploaded through the bank application are tagged Bank application.
  • People. The officers and owners named on the bank application, with their roles: BO (beneficial owner), CP (control person), AP (authorized person) and DIR (director). Hover a role to see what it means. While the application can still be edited, Edit people takes you to its owners section.
  • Accounts. The Operating account, then Other accounts belonging to the entity. Before approval, the operating account row reads Opens when the application is approved and clicking it opens the application. Use Add account to link another account to the entity.
  • Advanced Onboarding. The application’s timeline, with dates. If 1Money has asked for something, each request is listed under What is needed with a link to the section that fixes it. While the application is a draft, Contributors shows who else can work on it. The button at the bottom changes with the status: Start Advanced Onboarding, Resume application, Respond & re-submit, or View application and Refresh status while it’s under review.
  • The entity is saved once you finish the second step of Add Entity (Legal details). Closing the window after that doesn’t remove it.
  • Addresses are all or nothing. You can leave the registered address empty. If you fill in any of it, or pick a Jurisdiction country (it is also the address’s country), you need Address Line 1, City, Zip and a country.
  • People you add while creating an entity are carried into the bank application. They show on the People tab once the application’s owners section is saved.
  • Until the application is created, the personal details you type for owners and officers stay in your browser. Finish the Owners & companies section on the same computer and browser you started it on.
  • Documents and submitting open up after the owners section. Supporting documents and Review & submit stay locked until you save a complete Owners & companies section, which creates the application with 1Money.
  • Application uploads are limited to 10 MB a file. Company documents can be PDF, JPG, PNG, CSV or XLSX. Personal IDs and proof of address can be PDF, JPG or PNG.
  • Every uploaded document is scanned for safety. While that runs, the document shows Scanning…. Click Retry to check again. A file that fails is removed, with This document failed our safety scan and has been removed.
  • Removing a document from an entity can’t be undone.
  • A declined application is final for that entity. The app says This entity cannot re-apply. Contact your 1Money representative.
